What is a pH adjuster?
There are many reasons to use a pH adjuster, but they are
generally employed whenever a product is too acidic or too basic.
The pH adjusters that appear on this page are used to increase
the acidity of products such as lotions and hair conditioners.
Full instructions come with each product, but most pH adjusters
require you to add a little, then check the pH, repeating as
needed until the proper pH is reached.
We also offer pH indicators, such as
pH papers (pH 1-12) and phenolphthalein. |
Lactic Acid
INCI: Lactic Acid
Lactic acid—a colorless or slightly yellow, syrupy liquid
—is naturally formed by the fermentation of lactose, or milk sugar.
Its name comes from the Latin word "lac," which means milk.
Commercially, lactic acid can be made synthetically from chemicals
or organically as a by-product of vegetable (usually corn) fermentation.
Snowdrift Farm's lactic acid is fermented from corn and is USP/FCC grade.
