OptiPhen® is a paraben- and formaldehyde-free preservative liquid blend from ISP Sutton Labs featuring phenoxyethanol as the primary active ingredient in an emollient base of Caprylyl glycol.
Easily added directly to a formulation either during pre- or post-emulsification at or below 60°C (140° F), OptiPhen® provides effective protection from bacteria and yeast in a broad range of skin care and hair care applications. These include creams and lotions, body butters and sunscreens, as well as shampoos, styling gels and formulations containing silicones. The combination of these ingredients provides optimized protection against microbial growth while imparting exceptional feel to the finished product. Optiphen® is approved globally.
Applications:
- Can be used in a wide variety of personal care products including aqueous and anhydrous systems and emulsions.
- Can easily be added directly to the formulation during pre- or post-emulsification at or below 60°C (140°F)
- No pH restrictions; it is compatible with most raw materials.
- recommended use level is .75 to 1.5% (three-quarters to one and a half percent) of the batch weight.
