Ever wished you could make a multitude of products from just one base? Imagine preparing bubble bath, shower gel, lotion-cleansers, fine fabric washes and more from one starting point. Think of the savings in time, effort and money!
Snowdrift Farm has been hard at work to bring such a versatile product to market. We've developed and tested numerous bases, and are proud to put our name on our first multi-purpose cleansing base, Snowdrift OneSoap.
Made from a surfactant base which includes water, sodium laureth sulfate, cocamide MEA and cocomidopropyl betaine, Snowdrift OneSoap is easily thinned and thickened to suit your particular application or formulation needs. Salt water is all you need to add to thicken this base, and distilled water will thin our product to your requirements.
OneSoap is completely biodegradable and contains no phosphates.

Dendritic Brine solution
Snowdrift OneSoap can be easily thickened using pure salt in distilled or purified water. We recommend using dendritic salt as it is 99% pure, or better. Table salt is unsuitable as it contains additives that interfere with the thickening process.
To prepare a “saturated salt solution” (aka, brine), you will need 1 part salt to 3 parts boiling water. This mix yields a 25% saline solution. Mix the two ingredients thoroughly, and allow to cool completely before use. How much brine mix you decide to make depends upon how large a batch of soap product you intend to mix. You may, of course, make up as large a batch of brine as you would like and store it for future use. It will not spoil, due to its extremely saline nature.
Thickening Snowdrift OneSoap is the final step prior to packaging. The first step to thickening requires dilution by distilled or purified water. Add 2-3 parts water to 1 part Snowdrift OneSoap and mix thoroughly. How much water you add in this first step depends upon the finished product you intend to make.
Next, add any fragrancing materials, nutrients or other additives and preservative and mix again.
Finally, add your brine solution very slowly, agitating constantly. Thickening will begin slowly, gaining viscosity rapidly after the addition of brine. The maximum level of brine should be less than 5% of the total batch weight. In other words, you may add 5% brine solution to 95% diluted Snowdrift OneSoap. For example, if you were using 95 ounces of diluted Snowdrift OneSoap, we recommend using no more than 5 ounces of brine mix.
Saline additions of more than 5% tend to thin Snowdrift OneSoap. Once thinned in this manner, add more Snowdrift OneSoap to re-thicken. Keep an accurate journal of your experiments so that you can easily reproduce your successful results.
