This recipe makes 12 lip glosses.
We recommend using our "rollerball" lip gloss bottles.
These hold 1/3 oz. each.
INGREDIENTS/MATERIALS:
FD&C colorants
glycerin
light veggie oil of choice
Vitamin E Natural (optional)
12 x .3 oz. glass rollerball bottles
funnel or spouted container
empty plastic bottle for mixing
PROCESS:
Since this product will be ingested, you must use only FD&C colorants. This formula does not color the lips.
1) Mix 1.5 oz. by volume of glycerine with the dye in a dispensing squeeze bottle. (A very small amount of dye on the tip of a knife is all that is required.) Add the dye slowly -- a drop or two at a time -- and mix well until you achieve the desired color. Dispense into the lip balm container. Fill each container approximately 1/3 full with the glycerine mixture.
2) Mix the flavor with the oil. Use 1 to 2 ml or ¼ to ½ teaspoon per 3 oz of oil. I used apricot kernel oil, but other oils may also be used. Optionally, add 1/8 to ¼ teaspoon of vitamin E oil as an antioxidant.
3) Fill the bottles with the oil mixture to the shoulder to leave room to insert the roller. Cap and enjoy.
