There are just some scents that can not be captured through steam distillation, enfleurage or pressing. Many plants, such as this exquisite bird of paradise, actually have no scent whatsoever, though they evoke thoughts of wild, tropical florals. That's where fragrance oils come in -- when we can't find the scent we want in nature, we turn to fragrances for the answer. |
How are fragrance oils made and why should we use them?
By blending aroma chemotypes and natural plant extracts (essential oils), Snowdrift Farm creates a unique line of fragrance oils. Some scents are just not extractable from plants, such as strawberry and cucumber, and so we must turn to synthetic materials. Other scents, such as rose, are very costly. We use aroma chemotypes to mimic these fine scents. Snowdrift Farm specializes in fine fragrance oil duplications. You can count on us to bring you oils that aren't available anywhere else.
Our line of fragrances is ever-expanding; some, like our limited editions, may only be available seasonally. If you'd like us to locate a scent for you that's not currently on the list, send us an email, and we'll see if we can find it.
We recommend using .25 oz. of fragrance oil per pound of melt & pour glycerin or cold process soap mix. Our fragrance oils are 100% cold process and melt & pour soap safe, and may be used in cosmetic, body care, potpourri and other home fragrance applications.

This true-to-life floral is based strongly in sweet gardenia, with middle notes of cyclamen and lilac and a pleasing bottom of ylang and musk notes.
In cold process soap, the musky bottom becomes a bit more pronounced. No color shift. Flashpoint: > 200F.

Ginger Essence (Origins type)
