Experiencing a proper mojito being created is a wonderful thing. We sampled lots of different mojitos during our recent stay in the Florida Keys and never tired of watching the process.
The refreshing scent of spearmint muddled with limes is aromatic nirvana. We offer you two recipes here, one for soap and the other for the original "mojito!". Salut!
The Snowdrift Mojito
Key Lime, halved
10-12 fresh spearmint leaves
simple sugar syrup*
club soda
ice
light rum, 1 oz.
In a 12 oz. glass, muddle spearmint leaves with halved limes to release the aromatic flavor. Top with about 2 tablespoons of simple sugar syrup and muddle again. Add ice to about 3/4 of the way up the glass and pour light rum over. Top with club soda. Shake and serve with a spearmint leaf garnish.
* to make simple sugar syrup, mix 1/3 cup pure cane sugar with 2/3 cup of boiling water and stir to dissolve sugar. Refrigerate leftovers. |

| Blue Swirl Mojito!
Color entire batch with titanium dioxide added in lye-water mix. Add fragrance/essential oil blend as described in our original Mojito! soap recipe. Divide batch and add ultra blue or FDC Blue No. 3 or blue colored mica to smaller part. Pour plain soap on bottom of mold, stir in colored soap mix using a whisk and making sure to reach the bottom. Add the remaining soap mixes, one at a time and whisk-swirl in broad, curving strokes. |
