Trina's Sure-Fire Bath Bombs
Works like magic, every time!
Dry Ingredients
1 cup baking soda
1/2 cup citric acid
1/2 cup corn starch
Sieve dry ingredients til you get a nice smooth blend.
Wet Ingredients
2 1/2 T. sunflower or other light oil
3/4 T. water
2 teaspoons essential oil
2 tablespoons polysorbate 20
Combine wet ingredients and poly 20 in jar. Cover tightly and shake vigorously. Drizzle onto dry ingredients and blend thoroughly.
Pack tightly into moulds and slide out. Dry overnight.
TIP: When to slide the bombs out of the molds: if you feel the bombs are well-packed into the molds and by slightly removing them (tipping them upside down over a plate, while holding them in with your hand so they don’t drop out and break) and they look solid and not crumbly, then site your inverted bombs-in-the-mold as close to the countertop or large plate that you are placing them on and carefully allow them to slide out of the molds, one by one. This is probably going to be an acquired skill, unless you have baked a lot of pineapple upside-down cakes.

MILK BLAST!
(milk bomb-type)
Dry Ingredients
1/4 c coarse sea salt (color optional)
1 c bkg soda
1/2 c citric acid
1/4 c. SkinFlow 100
1/4 c. powdered buttermilk, or non-fat milk or powdered milk substitute
Note: I colored my bombs using a titanium oxide and red oxide powder.
They came out a pastel shade of pepto-pink. Using colored salts adds
interest, too. Both additives go in the dry phase.
Liquid Phase (change the scent to any you want, as long as it = 1 teaspoon)
1/2 teaspoons wild rose FO
1/2 teaspoon rosewood (bois de rose) EO
1 1/4 Tablespoons fractionated coconut oil
1 1/4 tablespoons glycerin USP
1/2 teaspoon silk protein
1/2 teaspoon polysorbate 20
Sieve dry ingredients to fine mixture. Shake liquid ingredients to emulsion in a capped jar. Drizzle over dry ingredients, incorporating fully. The finished mix should be moldable. Stuff into molds and take no prisoners. I stuffed mine into 3 and 4 oz. cavity-type soap molds
and them slid them right out. Repack where necessary; they air dry beautifully in 24 hours.
Wrap in cello bags with pretty bows.
Le Bath Melt
The ultimate fun in dispersing bath oil. Combines a bath bomb with a blooming bath oil. Drop into a warm bath and allow water to melt the oils and allow the bath bomb to mix the oils into the bath. Heaven!
Dry ingredients
1 cup Sodium bicarbonate
1 cup citric acid
Combine the dry ingredients and spoon loosely into molds.
Oils
Cocoa Butter (unscented) 75 g
Macadamia Nut oil 10 g
Wheat Germ oil 5 g
Polysorbate 20 - 10 g
Essential oils or fragrance to taste
Melt the oils together slowly using a microwave or a double boiler. Mix the oils well as they melt especially if you are using a microwave.
Pour the oils into the molds. Mix in to eliminate air pockets and to
thoroughly coat the dry ingredients. Place in the freezer to cool. Rapid cooling helps prevent settling of the dry ingredients. Demold
after the bath melts are completely cold.
