Three Step Avocado Herbal Skin Hydration Therapy
Here's a three step system that deep cleans and adds moisture to your skin. This regime works well for all skin types. Use twice weekly for optimum results.
Step 1: Herbal Hydration
This facial works by steam-loosening of dirt and debris trapped in or on skin.
1 teaspoon lavender buds
2 tablespoon chamomile flowers
5 drops lavender essential oil
3 drops Roman Chamomile essential oil
Thoroughly cleanse face with mild soap and water. In a stock pot, or other vessel with a large opening, bring
64 oz. of water to the boil. Remove from heat and stir in herbs and essential oils. Place a thick towel over your head and shoulders, encompassing
the steaming pot, to form a tent. The gentle steam from the brew will loosen the top layer of congealed oils, sebum and dirt from your skin. Steam yourself for 3-5 minutes. Splash skin with warm water to refresh. You may reserve the herbal tea for future use in soaps and body care products, but be sure to toss unused portion after three days, if you don't use a preservative.
Step 2: Deep Cleansing Scrub
Now that your skin is hydrated and the dirt is loosened,
finish cleansing with this exfoliant scrub.
1 tablespoon finely ground rose hip seeds
1 teaspoon powdered sea kelp
1 tablespoon finely ground REGULAR (not instant) oatmeal
1 teaspoon grated cold process soap
Mix dry ingredients with enough water or herbal tea (see above) to provide a
loose paste. Apply to skin in upward, circular strokes, starting at decolletage
and ending at the scalp. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Pat dry with fluffy towel.
Step 3: Rehydrating No-Clay Mask
1/3 cup local honey (local is best!)
1 tablespoon powdered sea kelp
1/2 teaspoon Vitamin E, natural
1 ripe avocado, puréed
1/2 to 1 ounce avocado oil
In a sterile bowl, combine all ingredients and mix with sterile utensils. (You can
Sterilize your equipment through sustained 150F heat for 20 minutes, or with a
15% chlorine bleach-in-water solution. Please label all sterilants!). When smooth,
Apply to decolletage, neck and face in upward sweeping motion. Do not use under
eyes, on broken skin or in any sensitive area.
This is a "non-drying" mask, meaning, it will not dry up like a clay mask. Keep mask
on for 10-20 minutes. This is a perfect time to take a break and relax! Rinse with warm water and pat dry. Apply avocado oil lightly to skin as a final nutritive treat.
