Every Spring, we are flooded with questions for the chemist about how to make sunscreen. The truth is, it's not as easy as just throwing some titanium dioxide into a lotion. In the USA, you may not legally sell a lotion with sunscreen additives in it as a sunscreen, unless you know the SPF.
Determining SPF is a costly procedure. You must have an analysis performed by a bona fide lab, and be ready to prove the SPF factor. Once the SPF is determined, additional ingredients may not be added as they may effect the SPF.

With alpha hydroxy acids to help exfoliate dull surface cells and stimulate circulation for a fresh and healthy appearance. Directions for use:
Perfect for everyday use. Apply over entire body after bath or shower and reapply as needed for continuous sun protection.
The FDA has approved this formula, as is, as an SPF 16 sunscreen. Adding other materials to this existing formula, including essential or fragrance oils, colorants or nutrients changes the formula and the product will require re-evaluation to determine the SPF.
